Sports and Hypnotherapy Translating to Everyday Life
Athletes have been using hypnotherapy for many years to help them with their respected sports, whether it is football, basketball, hockey, baseball, golf, etc. Using Hypnotherapy helps athletes with mental imagery and the future of success, focusing on success, overcoming mental blocks and barriers, as well as Reinforcing self-belief, motivation, and positive thinking.
You don’t have to be an athlete to use these techniques. Every day people are fully capable of using these techniques to help improve their lives for the better. Mental imagery is a way to help people focus on select images stored within their memory. For example, if an athlete were going to use this technique they would imagine themselves winning, or performing a jump shot, pass to a receiver, sinking the tournament-winning putt. You can use this technique to focus on images, items, moments, or anything that is going to affect your mental state positively. The next technique is focusing on success. This technique will be used in short to prepare your mind for success. The idea is that if you think you’re going to succeed then you will. EX. An athlete that keeps a positive mentality and believes that he or she is going to have success and win, then it is more likely for that to happen to them. The same can be said by using this technique in our everyday lives. If we focus our success on home, work, or recreational environment then we are more likely to have that success. Overcoming mental blocks and imagery is a way for a person to beat the negative thoughts and images that keep them from reaching their end goals. For example, an athlete might feel a little shaken from a previous loss but by removing all the negative mental blocks of the “I can’t” like mindset then the athlete will be more like be able to play better than the previous game. We can use that in our everyday lives by remembering even if we have a setback or two that our goals are not out of reach and that we can move past them. The last technique is reinforcement. Tell yourself every day that you can accomplish your goals, that you are happy, that you are capable, and make sure that the positive thought becomes almost second nature.
By using these techniques it is more likely that you will live a positive and healthier lifestyle both mentally and physically. Keep your eye out for more blog posts to come. Stay healthy and remember you can accomplish all your goals through positive thought.
