Running will make you feel good

Were you once an avid runner, however life happened and you let it fall by the wayside? Now is your chance to pick it back up. Running is just one of the many ways to get active, get in shape, and get those endorphins pumping. Getting back into the habit of running takes a lot of self-motivation and sticking with it takes even more. You have to want it and want to stick with it in order for it to work.  You’ll need to push yourself because the only person you’re running against is you.

However, if you need that little extra push ask a friend or significant other to run with you. Do a Google search, and find a local running club, which is a great way to meet people, and get you back running.  Don’t let any negative thoughts or fears of looking stupid, being too slow, or being out of shape keep you from the ultimate goal of a living healthier lifestyle. The important thing is that you’re staying active, and getting your heart rate up for at least 30 minutes a day. Getting your heart rate up for at least 30 minutes a day is proven to make you feel better about yourself. Do not get discouraged if you have a rough first outing; remember everyone has to start somewhere. It will take a while for you to get into shape, as well as for you to start seeing results. Like any exercise regime, it will take a positive mindset and time for it to become a habit. Set realistic goals for yourself for example 1 mile for the first 2 outings, then 2 miles so forth, and so on.

Whether you choose to start running again, or some other form of exercise makes sure to be active. You’ll feel better both mentally and physically! Good Luck!
